The facility's internal temperature rose easily due to heat generated by the injection molding machines. While natural ventilation vents were present, they were inadequate for exhausting the accumulated heat.
Portable spot coolers have a narrow cooling range and exhaust heat back into the room. Their design causes the overall temperature of the workspace to rise the longer they are operated.
To cool the entire workspace without ducting, four 80-pyeong (approx. 2,800 sq. ft.) class air conditioners were required. However, this was inefficient as it cooled areas where no workers were present.
We accounted for the layout where workers move between three different machines. The cooling range was determined based on actual movement paths rather than just a single machine location.
We adjusted the laser-cut hole directions for each section to ensure cold air reaches workers along the complex production line. The design directs airflow at a 6 o'clock position in some sections and a 4 o'clock position in others.
By connecting a fabric duct to a single air conditioner, we provided targeted spot cooling only to the necessary work zones, replacing the need for four separate 80-pyeong units.
We replaced 4 air conditioners with a single 80-pyeong capacity unit in a facility that previously required multiple units without fabric ducts.
By focusing cold air directly onto the production line, we lowered the perceived temperature in the areas where workers are actually stationed.
We designed the discharge direction for each section to provide customized spot cooling, even across complex work paths.
